
Claire Mankiewicz is a physician assistant who has successfully completed an accredited education program for physician assistant, is licensed by the state and is practicing neurocritical care and vascular neurology. Claire was formally trained to perform many of the tasks that a physician can do. In our NeuroICU, she assesses patients, prescribes medications and assists in performing time critical procedures. Claire takes detailed medical histories, performs thorough physical exams, orders lab tests, x-rays, brain and spine imaging, and gives emergent therapies for reduction of pressure due to brain swelling in qualifying trauma and stroke victims. As in many states, Claire works under the supervision of a neurointensivist.
Claire has organized a continuing education program within our program. The program consists of a series of case presentations and literature reviews and occurs monthly. The program is focused on staying up to date with the latest, cutting edge research within our rapidly growing field. Claire has participated in many programs that have demonstrated her willingness to help patients and improve world-wide health conditions. She supplied resources and raised funds for DOCARE International, NFP, Guatemala Medical Mission. Claire speaks multiple languages, including Spanish.
